Step into the heart of Zadar’s Old Town on a guided walking tour that blends history, architecture, and authentic Dalmatian flavors.
Begin your journey at the pier and stroll a short distance into the city’s historic core. Your first stop is the Cathedral of St. Anastasia, the finest example of Romanesque architecture in Zadar, featuring a striking western façade dating back to 1324. Inside, discover the stone sarcophagus of St. Anastasia, located in the apse beside the high altar.
Continue to the Church of St. Donatus, a circular 9th-century structure built atop Roman foundations. It is considered the most important pre-Romanesque church in the eastern Adriatic.
At the eastern edge of the Roman Forum, admire St. Mary’s Church, a 16th-century gem with a Romanesque bell tower. Visit the convent’s upper floor to view a collection of goldsmith’s work, relics, and sacred artifacts.
Your tour concludes with a tasting of local wine, cheese, and Maraschino liqueur in a cozy Old Town tavern. Zadar’s Maraschino liqueur has been produced for nearly 400 years and was once a favorite of European royalty.
After the tasting, you’re free to continue exploring the Old Town at your leisure.
