Rhodes: Mt Filerimos & Old Town Walk

First-time visitors to Rhodes will enjoy this comprehensive introduction to the island’s spiritual heritage and medieval grandeur. Begin with a scenic drive along the west coast, passing coastal villages and olive groves before ascending to the Plateau of Filerimos, nearly 1,000 feet above sea level.

Here, visit the Church of Our Lady, built atop the foundations of an ancient Temple of Athena and early Christian catacombs. Restored by the Knights of St John, the site includes the barrel-vaulted Chapel of St George, adorned with 15th-century frescoes.

Return to Rhodes for a guided walking tour of the Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Stroll through stone-paved lanes lined with medieval architecture, and follow the Knights Road, one of the oldest and most magnificent thoroughfares in Europe. This historic path leads to the Palace of the Grand Masters, a fortress originally built in the 14th century and rebuilt in 1939. Inside, admire ancient mosaics from Kos, a marble staircase, and panoramic views over the city and harbor.

Guests who prefer to explore independently may remain in town after the tour and return to the ship on their own.
