Discover Mount Etna & Taormina

Experience the legendary beauty of Sicily on this full-day excursion combining the elegance of Taormina with the dramatic landscapes of Mount Etna. Your journey begins with a scenic drive to Taormina, founded in the 3rd century B.C. and later transformed under Roman rule. Perched high on natural terraces overlooking the sea, Taormina retains a captivating medieval character that enchants visitors from around the world.

Upon arrival near the town center, begin a guided walking tour along Taormina’s cobblestone streets. Your first stop is the 15th-century Palazzo Corvaja, an architectural landmark distinguished by its classic double-arched windows. Continue on foot to the spectacular Greco-Roman Theatre, dating back to the 3rd century B.C. Renowned for its size and exceptional acoustics, this ancient venue is still used for open-air performances and offers breathtaking views of Mount Etna and the Bay of Naxos.

Before departing, enjoy free time to stroll or shop along Corso Umberto, Taormina’s famous pedestrian street lined with boutiques, cafés, and artisan shops.

Your tour then continues with an unforgettable journey to Mount Etna, Europe’s highest active volcano, rising 10,723 feet above sea level. With more than 130 recorded eruptions and a landscape shaped by centuries of volcanic activity, Etna offers an extraordinary range of scenery and vegetation along its slopes. Travel along a coastal highway and through fertile countryside filled with vineyards, citrus groves, and small villages such as Santa Venerina and Zafferana Etnea.

As you ascend, observe views of Catania—devastated by an eruption over 300 years ago—before reaching the Silvestri Craters, located at approximately 6,200 feet. Here you will walk among fields of solidified lava from the 1983 eruption and explore the dramatic lunar-like terrain surrounding the craters. Stop in a local restaurant for a typical 3 courses-lunch.
