Lindos: Acropolis & Village

Travel south along Rhodes’ scenic east coast to the ancient Doric town of Lindos, perched on a rocky promontory above twin harbors. Your drive passes orange groves, vineyards, and olive trees, culminating in a breathtaking view of Lindos village and its dramatic cliffs rising 400 feet from the sea.

Begin your ascent through the pedestrian-only village, with its whitewashed houses and black-and-white pebble mosaics, then climb approximately 250 steps to reach the Acropolis of Lindos.

At the summit, explore the 4th-century BC Doric Temple of Athena Lindia, a Byzantine church, and the castle-citadel of the Knights of St John. From this vantage point, enjoy sweeping views of the Bay of Psarto, where St Paul is said to have landed to preach to the people of Rhodes.

If you prefer not to climb to the Acropolis, you can still enjoy the charm of Lindos village, with its mosaic-paved streets, whitewashed homes, and inviting shops.

After your visit, enjoy free time in Lindos village to browse local shops before returning to Rhodes harbor.
