Discover the cultural and natural treasures of Hvar Island, from ancient landscapes to panoramic coastal views.
Begin your journey with a visit to the Stari Grad Plain, a UNESCO-protected cultural landscape that has remained virtually unchanged since its colonization by Ionian Greeks in the 4th century BC. This fertile plain, still cultivated with grapes and olives, features ancient stone walls and shelters, showcasing the original Greek geometric land division system.
Travel over the scenic hill to Stari Grad, once the largest settlement on the island and dating back to the 2nd century BC. Enjoy a guided visit to the Dominican Monastery, home to a rich library of priceless books and paintings, followed by free time to explore the town at your leisure.
Continue your panoramic drive to the village of Vrisnik, where a local host welcomes you with brandy and dried figs, followed by a wine tasting and a Hvar-style snack. The island’s wines range from light whites to full-bodied reds, all produced locally in small batches.
On your return to Hvar Town, stop briefly at the fortress overlooking the town and Pakleni Islands, offering one of the most magnificent views on the Adriatic.
