Ephesus & Sirince Village: A Cultural Escape

The day began with anticipation as travelers set out to uncover the treasures of Turkey’s rich history and culture. The journey started at the Ancient City of Ephesus, a timeless marvel of classical architecture and one of the best-preserved cities of antiquity. Walking along the Marble Street, the group admired the Library of Celsus and stood in awe at the Great Theatre, a venue that once hosted vibrant gatherings and performances. Every step through Ephesus was a journey into a world of intellect, culture, and ancient grandeur.

From Ephesus, the group traveled to the serene Sirince Village, perched among rolling hills and dotted with whitewashed houses. The cobblestone streets, lined with artisanal shops, invited travelers to explore the village’s unique blend of Turkish and Greek heritage. Guests had the opportunity to visit the vineries, sampling an array of local wines and savoring the distinct flavors of the region.

While in Sirince, guests experienced the richness of Turkish coffee, crafted with care and steeped in tradition. As part of Turkish culture, coffee is often paired with the lighthearted practice of coffee reading, where patterns left in the grounds are interpreted for entertainment or storytelling. Though guests did not partake in readings themselves, they gained insight into this charming cultural tradition, observing how Turkish people incorporate it into their social lives.

Lunch was a highlight, enjoyed at a cozy village restaurant in Sirince. Freshly baked bread and locally sourced ingredients provided an authentic taste of Turkish village life, creating a warm and memorable experience.

The day concluded with a relaxing drive back to the port. On the way, some guests opted for an optional carpet-weaving demonstration in Kuşadası, where master artisans showcased the intricate craftsmanship of Turkish carpets. For those who preferred not to attend, the port’s proximity ensured an easy return to the ship, offering time to unwind after a day filled with discovery and delight.
