Diros Caves

Travel by private vehicle from Gythion to the legendary Diros Caves, one of the most significant natural and archaeological sites in Greece. Discovered in 1958, these caves were once inhabited during the Paleolithic and Neolithic periods, making them among the earliest known settlements in the region. Excavations revealed human skeletons, tools, and artifacts—evidence of a prehistoric community that was tragically sealed inside by a massive earthquake nearly 4,500 years ago.

Upon arrival, board a small boat and glide through the underground waterways, where chambers are named for their shapes by the first speleologists who explored them. The surreal beauty of the stalactites and stalagmites, mirrored in the still waters, creates an unforgettable experience.

After the guided cave portion, enjoy free time to explore the surrounding area before returning to the pier.
