Halong Bay
Halong Bay, located in Quang Ninh Province in northeastern Vietnam, is one of Southeast Asia’s most iconic natural wonders. Spanning approximately 1,500 square kilometers, the bay is home to nearly 3,000 limestone karsts and islets, many of which are topped with lush greenery and shaped by centuries of wind and water erosion. The name “Halong” means “Descending Dragon,” rooted in local legend that dragons were sent by the gods to protect Vietnam from invaders.
Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Halong Bay offers a surreal seascape of towering cliffs, hidden caves, floating fishing villages, and tranquil lagoons. Popular activities include cruising aboard traditional wooden junks, kayaking through grottoes, and exploring islands such as Ti Top, Sung Sot Cave, and Cat Ba Archipelago.
Whether viewed from the deck of a boat or the summit of a limestone peak, Halong Bay delivers a breathtaking blend of geological grandeur and cultural heritage. It is a must-visit destination for travelers seeking both serenity and spectacle in Vietnam’s natural landscape
