Ephesus & Virgin Mary’s House
Explore two sacred and historic sites in one unforgettable journey, the ancient city of Ephesus and the revered House of the Virgin Mary.
Begin with a visit to the Catholic shrine known as the Virgin Mary’s House, believed to be the final residence of Jesus’s mother. Nestled in the hills above Ephesus, this peaceful site offers a moment of reflection and spiritual significance.
Continue to Ephesus, one of the best-preserved classical cities in the world. Walk through the Great Theatre, originally built during the Hellenistic period and later expanded by the Romans to seat 25,000 spectators. This is the very place where St. Paul preached to the Ephesians, and its acoustics remain impressive to this day.
Follow the Marble Road, part of the sacred walkway that leads to the Celsus Library and Hadrian’s Temple, dedicated in AD 118 to Hadrian, Artemis, and the people of Ephesus.
Before returning to the port in Izmir, enjoy a stop at a local weaving center for a demonstration of traditional carpet weaving and dyeing, accompanied by a tasting of Turkish pastries, appetizers, wine, beer, and soft drinks.
