Izmir City & Archaeology Tour

Discover the vibrant layers of Izmir, a city where ancient heritage meets modern life. Set on a hillside overlooking its namesake bay, Izmir’s history dates back to 3000 BC, making it one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the region.

Begin with a panoramic drive through Turkey’s third-largest city, known for its dynamic port and long-standing role as a trading hub. In the city center, visit the ruins of the ancient agora, originally built during the reign of Alexander the Great. Though partially preserved, the site offers insight into the commercial and civic life of classical Smyrna.

Continue to the Izmir Museum of History and Art, home to a curated collection of artifacts from regional excavations, including Bergama, Iasos, Bayraklı (Izmir’s original settlement), and Izmir itself. The museum’s exhibits highlight the city’s rich archaeological legacy and its role in shaping Aegean history.

Return to the port with a deeper appreciation of Izmir’s timeless character, where antiquity and innovation coexist.
