Langkawi's Crafts & Underwater World
Your journey begins at the Buday Craft Cultural Complex, a vibrant hub of Malaysian heritage. As you explore the exhibits and the heritage museum, you may witness artisans demonstrating their crafts. The complex offers a unique chance to shop for locally made treasures such as batik fabrics, finely woven rattan baskets, bamboo carvings, and exquisitely designed silverware. Many of these items are created using traditional techniques by ethnic tribes, preserving a rich cultural legacy.
Moving on, you visit Eagle Square, home to Langkawi’s iconic eagle sculpture—a striking tribute to the island’s name derived from the Malay word for eagle. This massive statue, poised for flight, serves as an excellent backdrop for memorable photos.
Finally, you arrive at Underwater World, where Langkawi’s marine life comes alive in vibrant displays. Over 5,000 tropical fish, housed in more than 100 expertly designed tanks, showcase the beauty and diversity of aquatic species. Highlights include the shark and stingray tank, an awe-inspiring sight, and the walk-through underwater tunnel, offering a truly immersive perspective as penguins swim gracefully overhead.
